Leyla Kuman is a fashion & textile graduate from De Montfort University who specialises in mixed media techniques. Combining print, stitch & material experimentation to create a conceptual cohesive aesthetic. She excels in idea generation & enjoys creating thoughtful, contemporary fashion silhouettes with subtle and minimal textile design.
Many of her collections focus on adaptability & the garments ability to change & adjust, custom to the wearer or occasion. She views garments as packaging for the body, having interchangeable panels that make up the garment. Her collections feature multi-purpose aspects such as reversible sides & extension pieces, allowing the garment to change with the wearer.
She finds it important making her collections self-adjusting as it changes with the wearer, expanding the garment’s life & also creates a collaboration with the wearer to custom the fit of the garment, making it oversized or more fitted. Redefining the consumer fast fashion mindset of over consumption & instead have multifunctional and adaptable range of garments tailored to the wearer.
